Pembaruan Fungsi Keuangan Perusahaan

Abstract

The fnance functions have experienced evolutionary renewal. However, these events have not yet studied intensively. This study explores the ability of companies to perform new fnance function as a business partnership function which focus on stock market communication. While this is an
important evolving function, the study found that listed companies in Indonesian Stock Exchange have not performed the ability well enough yet. The study uses data from Indonesian Stock Exchange for the period 2006-2007. On average, investors did not give signifcant reward to information about the growth performance of the corresponding listed companies. The author suggests that a renewal of fnance function of Indonesian companies is required.

Abstract

The fnancial crisis of the 1997 can be considered as an important “wake-up-call” for Indonesian businesses. Before the crisis, business systems were maintained poorly as indicated by widespread of corruption and unfair business practices. Many observers claimed that this kind of business habits
became one of important factors that trigger the crisis. Interestingly, unlike big companies related to conglomeration, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) survived during this difcult time. Several factors might be responsible to this phenomenon: fexibility, informality, communality and responsiveness. In post-crisis period, businesses in Indonesia should restructure their systems
and behavior by adopting some basic principles of small business while strengthening their corporate governance. Partnership with SMEs is one of the best strategies to do that in this new era.

MeningkatKan KinerJa Pemasaran dengan Kreativitas strategi

Abstract

This study explores new variables that support strategic creativity in marketing according to Menon et al. (1999).  Those variables are: reward, individual performance, and team work efect. Therefore,
there are four hypotheses that are tested in this research. Firstly, the higher the strategic creativity, the higher the marketing peformance. Secondly, the higher the reward, the higher the strategic creativity. Thirdly, the higher the individual performance, the higher the strategic creativity. And lastly, the higher the team perfomance, the higher the

Strategic creativity.

Multiple regression analysis is used to test the hypotheses using inputs from ffty respondens. The result shows that those hypotheses can be accepted. Managerial implications correspond to the result  are discussed at the end of this article.

INDONESIAN BANKRUPTCY LAW: REVISITED

Abstract

One of the key challenges in fnancial distress resolution is to fnd the way to renegotiate the debts. Financial troubled firms may apply either court or out-of-court resolution process. Under court supervision, frms have to follow Indonesian bankruptcy law which ofers a moratorium on debt repayment through a system of court supervision and liquidation proceedings. Alternatively, frms may apply out-of-court workout. This paper is written to examine process of both resolutions, problem in executing the law and the reasons for least likelihood of fling court solution in Indonesia. In addition, it shows study on bankruptcy fling in East Asia countries.

PREDICTING CREDIT RISKS

Using Sustainability Criteria into Credit Risk Management

Abstract

Many researchers have reported that there is a correlation between a company’s environmental performances with its financial performance.  The role of criteria pertaining to sustainability and environmental orientation could play important roles in credit risk management process. The sustainability criteria can be used to predict fnancial performance of a debtor and, thus, improve predictive ability of a credit rating process. This article tests the relationship by using three sustainability measures as independent variables and traditional rating as dependent variable in a stepwise regression model. The result shows improvement in prediction. However, the use of additional criteria will increase cost in the prediction process. Further cost-beneft analysis related to the addition of those criteria would be valuable for credit risk management practices.

HUMAN RESOURCE RETENTION PRACTICES

from the Employees’ Perspective

Abstract

Employees retention is one of the core challenges faced by many organizations today especially in the corporate sectors of the economy. In this research, a conceptual model was developed and applied in the context of the faculty retention policy of a private university in Bangladesh. The study was conducted primarily to evaluate the current human resource retention practices of the university from the faculties’ point of view. The research identifed the core elements of human resource practices, which strongly infuence the decision of faculty members to remain in the organization. The result shows that university culture and policies, working environment, teamwork relationship and challenging opportunities are significantly related with the faculty retention policies practiced by the
university.

This paper analyzes the relations between culture and communities. The interesting cultural aspects of organizations are, as we have seen, not what is unique for a single organization, but deeper and broader patterns that to some extent are part of a more general business, industrial, or community culture. Understanding of cultural manifestations in organizations, even those that are dominant and broadly shared on the local level, is that it makes us realize the management’s infuence is,
after all, restricted. National culture, class culture, and the cultures of professional and occupational communities put strong imprints on organization.An important additional factor, not often addressed in either research or theorizing, that may help explain the variation in the communal nature of organizations over time and across locales are the social values and norms that get embedded in
particular theories and perspectives about people and organizations, perspectives that do not simply take place but that are promulgated by interest groups with particular agendas and beliefs.

Sebuah Keniscayaan

Ada dua kasus yang melatari penerapan EYD sebagai salah satu kriteria kelayakan sebuah naskah. Kasus pertama yaitu terkadang tidak mampunya Pedoman EYD menjawab beberapa persoalan dalam masalah tata tulis naskah, baik dalam penggunaan kata baku, istilah, tanda baca, maupun singkatan/akronim.

Kasus kedua yaitu kurangnya pemahaman penulis naskah, terhadap EYD itu sendiri sehingga kesalahan-kesalahan elementer dalam penulisan naskah masih sering terjadi, seperti penggunaan kata nonbaku dan penggunaan tanda baca yang keliru.

Dalam kasus pertama, buku Pedoman EYD ataupun Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, tidak bisa semata-mata dijadikan acuan untuk menilai kelayakan naskah, pun termasuk dijadikan satu-satunya referensi untuk penyuntingan naskah. Karena itu, para penulis ataupun redaksi perlu mencari solusi kebahasaan yang lain dan menetapkan suatu keputusan yang ajek sebagai gaya penulisan.

Sebetulnya masalah untuk kasus pertama ini sudah lama dikaji dan akhirnya muncullah gagasan membuat semacam buku pedoman gaya selingkung (house style) penerbitan dalam bahasa Indonesia. Pada awalnya gagasan ini akan dilaksanakan oleh Pusat Perbukuan Depdiknas.

Di pihak lain, beberapa institusi penerbitan menyusun sendiri buku pedoman gaya selingkung penerbit dan menetapkan aturan-aturan tersendiri dalam hal kebahasaan. Untuk kasus kedua, mungkin sudah menjadi fenomena betapa seorang penulis ataupun penerjemah merasa tidak berkepentingan mengetahui lebih jauh tatatulis naskah berdasarkan EYD atau bahasa Indonesia yang baku.

Pengetahuan terbatas mereka soal bahasa Indonesia dipergunakan dalam bahasa tulis sehingga menimbulkan banyak kekeliruan dalam hal penerapan standar bahasa maupun kerancuan di dalam naskah. Hal ini semakin sering terjadi manakala kampanye bahasa baku Indonesia agak kendur sejak lebih dari satu dekade lalu. Selain itu, pelatihan menulis ataupun menerjemahkan dengan mendatangkan ahli bahasa Indonesia juga sangat minim diselenggarakan.
